On Episode 6, the YouTube's master mechanic says that if you're gonna ride in the streets on a BMX bike, you ought to have brakes.  This episode is a concise and focused lesson on installing a front brake cable on a new Diamondback Grind Pro.

Details are visibly covered, from threading the cable, snipping off the casing (using Park Tools CN-10 parrot nose clippers), and using ferrules to keep things together.   At the brake end, spring adjusting screws and anchor bolts are explained, along with why you should have enough cable slack.  Great nuts & bolts learning, without a lot of distractions.

Episode 4 showcases a rare, antique Schwinn Superior bicycle built over a hundred years ago.  By showcasing a part of biking history, this episode is a departure from the recent bike repair oriented videos.

The Schwinn Superior has an overall design that is surprisingly modern despite being built in 1909!  Certain details show the age, however: glue-on tires that fit wooden rims, a wire-held skip tooth chain, an ancient Mesinger brand leather saddle, and more.  

The origins of the bike, and how the master mechanic came to acquire it are discussed, along with speculation on how much it may be worth.

How to fix a broken spoke and true a wheel is the lesson learned in episode 3 of the BikemanforU Show.

With his favorite mix of humor and the right tools, the BikemanforU covers the essentials: how to measure spoke size, follow a lace pattern, install and tighten a spoke and true the wheel.

Tools used include a repair stand, wheel truing stand, cassette removal tools.

This week on the BikemanforU Show, viewers learn how to unstick a a badly gunked up cassette freehub on the back wheel of a Fuji mountain bike that has been in storage for a long while.  After some investigation, the master bike mechanic demonstrates how the pedals just spin and there is no engagement between the cassette freehub and the rim/tire.

The customer does not want to spend a lot of money to fix this bike, and in fact will get a free fix in the end.  The congealed grease shows how long this bike has been laying around, and getting that removed is a first step.

Things are cleaned up and running in fairly short order.  He uses a number of shop tools and products: chain whip, SR1, lockring tool, and the ever-handy compressed air to blow out gobs of grease. Final cleaning with a strong (ie, toxic) chemical cleaner,  Brakleen, along with fast forwarded manipulation has the cassette freehub grabbing again.  After that, re-assembly, re-lube and a happy customer shows up just in time to pick up his now running bike.

Season 1, Episode 1 "A Quarter Turn Does A Lot"

In this pilot for the BikemanforU Show, the most outrageous pro bike mechanic on YouTube takes on a violently bent frame and a broken rear derailleur.

Part 1 begins with an examination of the problem, planning the work, disconnecting the rear brake, chain examination and removal, wheel removal, frame straightening, and the difference between brake and shifter cable. Part 2 covers cable and derailleur installation.

The BikemanforU channel on YouTube has more than a million views and nearly 2,000 subscribers. Creator/producer BikemanforU, with more than 35 years experience,  uses humor and a little silliness to show that fixing a bike can be fun and easy.

BikemanforU and Steve-O formed a dynamic duo in their second video together as they demonstrated the multiple features and benefits of our new SunLite fixed front basket. "Obviously, we can't support everybody, but we want to try," said Bart Birk, director of operations. Birk is familiar as the producer and on-screen personality of BikemanforU Instructional Videos .

"If people let us know what they're doing to help other people, you know we're going to help them with a shout-out everywhere we can," he said, adding, "As BikemanforU would say, 'We'll shout it from the treetops, baby!'"
